Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled within the charming surroundings of The Courtyard at Thoresby Park, The Courtyard Cafe offers a delightful café experience that perfectly complements a day out in this scenic part of Newark. This inviting spot combines rustic charm with a relaxed atmosphere, making it a favorite for families, dog walkers, and visitors seeking a comforting, casual meal or a refreshing break.

The cafe’s menu features a selection of stonebaked pizzas that are wonderfully satisfying—each one boasting a crisp, golden crust that crackles beneath a rich layer of bubbling cheese and fresh toppings. The Margherita is a classic indulgence, simple yet bursting with fresh tomato and basil flavors, while the Pepperoni and Ham & Mushroom options add a savory, hearty twist. For those wanting a lighter portion, the “Half A Pizza” choice is perfectly sized without compromising on taste.

Families will appreciate the thoughtfully crafted children's menu, with comforting favorites like golden chicken goujons, crispy sausages, and creamy tomato pasta, all delivering warmth and familiarity to young palates. The café also caters to those seeking wholesome, uncomplicated meals with its versatile jacket potato options topped with cheese, baked beans, or prawn Marie Rose—a blend of freshness and indulgence that's hard to resist.

The dining experience at The Courtyard Cafe truly shines outdoors in the quaint courtyard setting. Many guests relish the opportunity to enjoy their meals al fresco, surrounded by greenery and often accompanied by their four-legged friends. With plenty of outdoor seating complete with sun umbrellas and even dog water bowls, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and cozy. The indoor seating remains inviting and comfortable, providing a sheltered alternative when the British weather turns less favorable.

Beyond the food, the attentive and friendly staff bring an unmistakable warmth to every visit. From the seamless large-group reservation served with a personal touch to the swift takeaway coffee service that respects social distancing, customers consistently applaud the café's thoughtful, considerate service. Reviews speak volumes—one family praised how the staff made an 80th birthday celebration truly special with quality care and genuine kindness, while others highlight the reasonable prices and tasty, quick meals as big positives.

Whether you’re pausing for brunch during a classic car show, unwinding after a woodland walk, or simply popping by for a well-brewed coffee and a friendly smile, The Courtyard Cafe offers an inviting, authentic experience. It’s not just a place to eat—it’s a warm welcome amid the natural beauty of Thoresby Park, where delicious comfort food meets heartfelt hospitality.

Booking a large group reservation over the phone, for a Surprise 80th Birthday Celebration, to arriving and being catered for throughout, made us feel so special. The personal touche, quality thoughtful caring service made this memorable moment even more special. Thank you for your Kind service from beginning to end. The Watkinson Family

A good range of hot and cold food for a relatively small café, and the prices are reasonable. Seating is available inside, but also lots of seating outside in the courtyard if it is dry. They do have some sun umbrellas for shade. Staff all friendly and they bring the food to your table. Lots of dog water bowls in the courtyard.

We visited the Thorseby Hall grounds on a weekend recently for a family walk. After this we decided to eat lunch at The Courtyard Cafe. As it was sunny and we had our dog with us we sat at a table outside in the courtyard. This offered good cover from the cold wind so it was quite comfortable. My wife had a English tea and I had a coke zero. For the food we had a ham and cheese panini melt and a burger with chips. Both were simple but good quality and decent portions for the price. Service was a bit slow (about 30 mins for food) but it was quite busy.

All very well arranged for takeaway coffee and other drinks! Order at the door and pay by card then wait at the second door to collect and take out. Social distancing observed and nice coffee too! Seats are all placed to one side but there are some picnic tables outside the courtyard where you can sit to drink if you wish.

We had a delicious afternoon tea on Wed 20 August even though we only phoned for a booking the afternoon before. The tasty country style sandwiches, brie & cranberry, thick smoked salmon, thick ham & tomato & pastrami with horseradish were all served with a selection of green leaves. The slices of sponge cake were huge & they & the chocolate brownies with smarties were delicious. Two scones, plenty of jam & cream all served with hot chocolate, cream & a flake. It was a cool day so we sat inside & it became quieter after 2pm as very busy earlier with people enjoying their lunches. Would be great to sit in the courtyard outside on a warm sunny day.

16/07/25 We arrived for our pre-booked afternoon tea today in the secret garden. Despite the initial confusion the staff were amazing and did everything possible to make us comfortable while our food was prepared. Tammy under very busy circumstances was amazing and an absolute credit to your establishment. Our afternoon tea was second to none. We will definitely be returning. Thank you
